Resolution from the
North Texas
Annual Conference
WHEREAS it
is a cause for celebration that the United Methodist Congress of the Deaf is
hosting an international gathering of persons who are deaf, late deafened, hard
of hearing, or deaf-blind, and
WHEREAS there
will be evident joy at signing and sharing the stories of Christ’s work around
the world among those who are deaf and who share United Methodist or Wesleyan
connections, and
WHEREAS
over ninety percent of the deaf community in
North America
are reported to be unchurched, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED that
the 139th Session of the North Texas Conference of the United
Methodist Church, Bishop Rhymes H. Moncure, Jr., presiding, sends love, prayers,
and encouragement to this historic gathering of the United Methodist Congress of
the Deaf, and
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that
we call upon the Holy Spirit to inspire a movement of outreach among United
Methodists everywhere to persons who are deaf, late deafened, hard of hearing,
or deaf-blind.
